"The Japanese word for the color green is Midori and the Japanese word for koi is goi, thus Midorigoi is the name for green koi. This type of "UNUSUAL" koi was first bred by cross breeding a Shusui to a doitsu Yamabuki Ogon. Today the breed is true with only a few Japanese farms attempting a yearly spawn as only a limited number are culled up to top quality.  Our Spotlight koi is a show quality Doitsu(no scales or only German scales) Midorigoi with excellent body conformation, an even shade of lime green, large rounded pectoral fins, tall sail dorsal fin, big rounded fan tail fin, and most importantly a perfect ZIPPER row of steel blue German scales along her dorsal ridge. According to Marusaka San, the breeder of our magnificent specimen, only one koi of this show quality caliber is obtained out of every 50,000 koi fry that were spawned. Eldonkoi has been importing nishikigoi from Japan for the past 35 years and this is only the third time that we have found a show quality Midorigoi."
